Privacy Policy
In keeping with the British Columbia privacy law, the Transit Employees’ Health and Benefit Trust’s Privacy Policy explains why,
how and when your personal information may be collected and used.
The Trust collects personal information in order to administer benefits, including health and dental plans, disability protection
and life insurance. We keep records of details such as:
- your date of birth
- your address
- your social insurance number
- information about your dependents and beneficiaries
We use and share this information only as needed
to properly administer the benefit plans — for example, to determine eligibility
for benefits and to pay claims. Confidential information about medical
conditions, treatments and individual claims is kept by the insurance
company and only accessed by the Trust when necessary.
We respect your right to privacy and we will only collect, use and disclose personal information in accordance with the law and with our
privacy policy.
The Privacy Policy developed by the Transit Employees’
Health and Benefit Trust came into effect on July 7, 2004.
It spells out in detail how and why personal information will be collected, used and disclosed. It also describes how you
can obtain copies of documents containing personal information, correct any errors or challenge the Trust’s compliance with
BC’s privacy law.
To obtain copies of documents the Trust has on file containing your personal information:
- Print and complete the Request
for Access to Personal Information form (PDF)
- Prepare a cheque for $30.00 made out to “Transit Employees’ Health
and Benefit Trust”
- Send the completed form and the cheque to:

came into effect on January 1, 2004.
