About the Trust
The Transit Employees' Health and Benefit Trust provides group benefits to employees of Coast Mountain Bus Company, TransLink, TSML, BCRTC/WCE, and BC Transit.
The duties and responsibilities of the Trust include:
- Defining the benefits and the eligibility for those benefits as per the applicable collective agreements
- Holding the money required to fund the benefit programs
- Managing the investment of the money
- Ensuring that the benefits are properly managed and administered
The trustees meet on a regular basis to monitor and review the activities of the Trust, including investment performance. The Trustees arrange for an annual review of the adequacy of the funds and the rates. They also arrange for an annual audit of the Trust fund.
As with all trusts, the trustees are required by law to manage the affairs of the trust in the best interest of the beneficiaries - you and your dependents.
The Trust provides the following benefit programs:
- Extended Health Plan (for Coast Mountain Bus Company, TransLink, TSML and Exempt Employees of BCRTC)
- Dental Plan (for Coast Mountain Bus Company, TransLink and Exempt Employees of BCRTC)
- Income Continuance Plan (for CUPE and Exempt)
- Short Term Disability (for UNIFOR)
- Long Term Disability (for UNIFOR)
- Life Insurance (for all member groups)

- Sundip Khosa, a Trustee appointed by BC Rapid Transit Company
- Scott Walters, a Trustee appointed by UNIFOR, Local 2200
- Joseph Fadel, a Trustee appointed by CUPE, Local 7000
- Peter Papastamatiou, a Trustee appointed by CUPE, Local 4500
The Trustees have appointed several professionals to assist them in the management of the Trust:

- Benefit Consultant: Mercer
- Bookkeeper: D&H Group
The Trustees have agreements with two insurers who pay the claims and administer the various benefits:
- Pacific Blue Cross: Extended Health and Dental
- Canada Life: Life insurance, Income Continuance, Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability and Critical Illness
